Our trip has come to an end, like all good things must. Our morning at the hotel was brief as we had an early Uber scheduled. We swiftly ate our leftover food (mainly consisting of fruit and pastries from the convenience store near our hotel) and packed our remaining few items. Our time at the airport went smoothly and we had a comfortable amount of time to browse through the various airport shops before heading to our gate. We did not find out what our gate was until it was nearly time to board, and we were the first ones there. It took a bit to get the plane situated for our flight, but we eventually made it on. The plane was still warming up when we took off which meant that none of the TVs worked on the plane for the first hour or so. I did not mind this much as I was trying to get some sleep. We were served lunch, and I opted for the pasta, and I also ate the roll, salad, and crackers that came with it. I ended up staying awake for the majority of the flight and watched a few movies to pass the time. Later in the flight we were given ice cream and a folded pizza. The food and flight were decent and before we knew it, we were landing back home in Philadelphia. We flowed with the traffic through customs and baggage claim. Avery, my boyfriend, was there to pick me up and I said a quick goodbye to my travel partners, my mom and sister who were getting picked up by my sister’s boyfriend. I arrived home in the late afternoon and stayed awake unpacking and settling in until a little after 9 PM to get my body back into rhythm after changing time zones.

I had a lovely trip with my mum and sister. We visited the homeland of our ancestors and learned about new cultures and deep-rooted history. We had new experiences and tried a multitude of new things. Our weather was superb. There are very few things to complain about from this trip, and they are all trivial. I appreciate and recognize how privileged I am to be able to go on this trip of a lifetime and it is not something that I take for granted. I am very grateful for every travel experience I have had the pleasure of being a part of. It brings me joy to share about my journeys, and I look forward to continuing to do so as my next trip is just around the corner. 😉
