Hannah and I started our last day off by driving to Black Market Brewing Company in Temecula, CA for an All-Inclusive Cable Car Wine Tour. Our tour began at 11 AM with a welcome drink and sandwich. I ordered the O’Farrell sandwich (turkey, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, oil & champagne vinegar) and this was served with a bag of chips and a water bottle. The food was fine, and we had a good amount of time to eat and enjoy our welcome drinks. Hannah and I shared a table with a middle-aged couple from Canada who were kind. We swapped travel and life stories with each other as we indulged. After Hannah and I finished our welcome drink, we decided to purchase a margarita in a souvenir to-go glass. This might have been our downfall, going too hard too fast. We learned throughout our day that wine tours are a marathon, not a race.
After about an hour at Black Market Brewing Company, we loaded into the cable car and went to our first stop, Akash Winery & Vineyard. This location featured an open-air patio that offered stunning views. Here, we participated in a few wine tastings. Our time at each winery was brief, about an hour or so, in which I decided to focus on being in the moment rather than taking notes for blogging purposes so please excuse the lack of wine details. I found myself enjoying all of the wines at each location, the sunshine, the views, and my company.
Our next location was Somerset Vineyard & Winery. Here we took a behind the scenes tour of the facilities which included viewing the wine making and amphorae aging vessels. The vibe of this location was relaxed, and their focus seemed to be on creating memories with loved ones. Hannah and I definitely made lots of memories and shared plenty of laughs.
The third and last location was Callaway Vineyard & Winery. Callaway was the first winery to open in Temecula Valley. This was a breathtaking estate with flavorful and well-balanced wines.
Our tour ended by bringing us back to Black Market Brewing Company. Here, Hannah and I took our time unwineing and drinking plenty of water before we drove back to Covina. On our way home, we stopped at a thrift store and did a little shopping.
We slept for a few hours and then left for LAX early in the morning so I could make my 5:35 AM flight back to Philadelphia. I had a layover in Michigan, and I made it to the Philadelphia Airport at 6:00 PM.
This was an incredible trip! I had the most amazing time with Hannah, and I absolutely fell in love with California. I cannot wait to visit again and see more of this gorgeous state.
