Life Finds a Way- 08.06.26
Today was our redo day at Kualoa Ranch from our mishap on Tuesday. Our adventure began with the Ocean Voyage Tour. We sailed Hawaiian waters, spotted marine wildlife, and visited an 800-year-old fishpond. Unfortunately, the catamaran that we were supposed to sail on was inoperable, so the backup plan was to split the tour group in half. For the first half of the tour, half of the group stayed on the beach and the other half went out to sea then the groups switched as the boat that was available was smaller and could not take as many passengers. While this was less than ideal, we made the most out of the situation at hand. Avery, his family, and I spent the first half of the tour on the beach making traditional Hawaiian leis and having some photo ops. On our ocean voyage, we had panoramic views of Mokoli'i Island, Hakipu'u and Kualoa valleys, and the Ko'olau mountain range. We also saw sea turtles swimming in the ocean, which was truly magical.
After our aquatic adventure, we left the ranch to get lunch at some local hotspots. We went to Waiahole Poi Factory and Yummy Huli Huli Chicken where we tried a variety of dishes at each location that were all delicious! This was definitely a fun detour!
After we were stuffed, we went back to the ranch for the Jungle Expedition Tour. On this tour we explored Hakipuʻu Valley, passed iconic movie locations, and heard Hawaiian legends and stories. The tour was good and we had a few opportunities to get out of the vehicle and explore the sites up close. When we finished our tour, we headed back to Aulani with a pit stop at the most scenic McDonald’s in Hawaii.
This pit stop ended up being over an hour long due to the popularity of the location and lack of adequate staffing. When we finally made it back to the resort, we spent the evening enjoying the aquatic features including visiting the secret beach, floating in the lazy river, and unwinding in the hot tub. We ended the night by having leftovers in the suite.
