Today was my first day as a fiancée, and our first mishap of the trip. Today we had a booked UTV Tour at Kualoa Ranch that we accidentally missed due to a misunderstanding about the arrival time.

Kualoa Ranch is a 4,000-acre Private Nature Reserve as well as a working cattle ranch with more than 600 head of cattle, 120 horses, and 200 sheep. The reserve terrain varies from waonahele, dense Hawaiian rainforest, to waokanaka, broad open valleys. It has been the site for over 70 Hollywood movies since the 1950’s. Some of the big hits include Jumanji, Kong Skull Island, Jurassic World, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic Park, Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla, Tears of the Sun, and 50 First Dates. In addition, Kualoa has been the backdrop in TV shows such as Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I., and LOST.

Although we missed our tour, we still drove out to the ranch to see what could be done for our situation, if anything. Fortunately, they were able to book a different experience for us which we scheduled for Thursday. We made the most of the occasion and did some sightseeing while we were in the area. We drove past the Byodo-In Temple which represents a smaller scale replica of the almost 1,000-year-old Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan, which is a United Nations World Heritage Site. We also stopped at Costco and did some grocery shopping to fuel us for the week ahead.

Once we were back at the resort, I got some more character signatures for my surfboard, then went to enjoy the aquatic features of the ocean, pool, and hot tub. Avery, myself, his sister, and her boyfriend all headed back to the villa to freshen up as we wanted to go find the “secret beach” and take photos.

The secret beach that is less of a secret is a short walk from the resort. We had a fun mini photoshoot out on the shores before retiring for the night to the suite and enjoyed some drinks and games together.
