Our trip began like any good one, early morning and escaping the cold northern weather. My boyfriend, Avery, and I left our home early Friday morning and drove to his parent’s house to pick up his mother as the three of us were headed to Orlando, Florida for an impromptu Disney trip. We flew out of PHL around 11 AM, indulging in a pre-flight mimosa and shared basket of chicken tenders from Chickie's and Pete’s. We landed at MCO around 2 PM and took Mears Connect to our lodging at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. We stayed in the Barbados section which was near several amenities such as the main building that housed the lobby, quick service food, grab and go market, gift shop, outdoor swimming pools, as well as bus stops and the Skyliner. I have stayed at this resort a few times now and I have always been pleased.

After a quick refresh in our resort room, we took a bus over to Disney Springs. At Disney Springs we got libations at Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar. Avery’s mom, Jen, and I both ordered the Fountain of Youth (St. Augustine Florida Cane Vodka, Bols Blue Curacao, White Cranberry Juice, and Sweet-and-Sour) for $17.50 each. Avery ordered Reggie’s Revenge (Florida Cane ‘Orlando Orange’ Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, White Cranberry Juice, and fresh Lime Juice) for $17.50. We shared the Margherita Flatbread (Roasted Tomato, Caramelized Onion, Basil, Mozzarella, and Balsamic Syrup) for $10.00. My drink was good but a bit too sweet for my preference and we all enjoyed the flatbread.

From the Hanger Bar, we shopped around stopping at various stores including World of Disney, Disney Style, and Marketplace Co-Op. We also stopped for drinks at Dockside Margaritas. I got a Lime Margarita (Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier Liqueur, Lime Juice and Sweet-and-Sour) and Avery and his mom got Watermelon Margaritas (Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier Liqueur, Watermelon, Lime Juice, and Sweet-and-Sour) for $18.50 each. This margarita spot is one of my favorites!

After some shopping and drinks, we went to our dinner reservation at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill. Avery’s mom and I were not that hungry, so we split a Caesar Salad (Romaine Hearts, Creamy Parmesan Dressing, Ciabatta Croutons) for $18.00 and Traditional Fettuccine Alfredo (Sauteed Spinach, Parmesan Cheese Sauce) for $21.00. Avery ordered his own Traditional Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Rosemary Chicken for $33.00. For the table we ordered Grilled Ciabatta Bread (Whipped Herb Butter, Parmesan Cheese, Tomato Sauce) for $11.00. While our entrees were good, we did not have good service. Our server did not deliver items we asked for such as butter, our waters were not refilled throughout the meal, there were no check-ins during the meal to see if the food was satisfactory or if anything else was needed, and we were pushed to buy alcoholic beverages and desserts which we did not have an interest in. Unfortunately the service soured our anticipated experience and we do not have a desire to return as there are several other great options to dine at while at Disney Springs.

Our first day was a busy one so we headed back to our resort after drinking, eating, shopping, and traveling for a much-needed good night sleep. The next two days were set to be busy park days with an extended day and travel day following that you will want to stay tuned for.
