Today started out like any other Tuesday, I woke up, got myself ready, and went to work. However, I only went to work for a few hours as this was a special Tuesday. Today was the beginning of Avery, my boyfriend, and I’s California adventure. As previously featured on my blog, this was not my first time in Cali, however, it was Avery’s. After my short workday concluded, I went home, gathered up my luggage, and headed to the Philadelphia International Airport with Avery.

We did our regular airport routine - parked offsite, shuttled to our terminal, tagged and checked luggage, cleared security, and got a drink at the bar. We gave ourselves some extra time to complete our tasks as we were unsure how the government shutdown would impact lines. Thankfully, we did not hit any delays and breezed through our routine.

Once we boarded our flight, I inquired if there was hanging space for our garment bag as this was not just any California vacation, we were flying out to get my dear friend Hannah married. The flight attendants were gracious and allowed us to hang our bag with his suit and my bridesmaid dress in the closet.

I wish that I could say that the flight was quick and painless, but it was not. We flew for longer than expected and we had a multitude of screaming, crying children onboard. Once we landed and gathered our belongings, all was quickly forgiven and forgotten as we were on vacay mode. We were picked up by my friend and fellow bridesmaid, Alexa and her boyfriend, Josh who are both from the East Coast. We drove together from San Diego to Anaheim with a pit stop at In-N-Out Burger.

We arrived at our offsite Disneyland hotel later than we had hoped due to the increased flight time and once checked in, we all headed to bed. The next several days were to be a whirlwind of adventures and emotions.
