Last day, best day baby! Today I woke up “early” to get breakfast with the girls at Ruby Slippers, 3 of the guys gave up and chose extra sleep and one made it to breakfast with us, it was not Avery. At Ruby Slippers I had the Ruby Mimosa Flight (blueberry lavender, watermelon pomegranate, peach bellini, and blue orange) and the Breakfast Tacos (three grilled tortillas filled with a scramble of eggs, Pico de Gallo, pepper jack, chipotle sour cream, and avocado, served with a side of breakfast potatoes). Our service was a little slow, but the food and drinks were delicious. I enjoyed my tacos so much that I did not even notice that they were missing the avocado until the end. After breakfast we collected the rest of our sleepy party and headed over to the main event, the baby shower.
The shower was a quick Uber ride away and was lovely, filled with warmth and love for the parents to be. We spent our time chatting, eating, and playing games. Once the shower ended, we headed back into the city for our final few hours in New Orleans. We further explored the downtown, stopping in various shops for gifts and trinkets. We went to Cafe Du Monde one last time for beignets and then Willie’s Chicken Shack for fried chicken. After we ate, Avery and I parted ways from the group as we had a flight home to catch.
Everything went smoothly during our journey home, and I am grateful for the opportunities given to try new things, see good friends, and enjoy a weekend away. Until next time NOLA.
